This is your chance to show up for safer streets in Los Alamos, and we need you there.
Caltrans is holding a public meeting on the State Route 135 Los Alamos Connected Community Project, a long-awaited plan to build 0.73 miles of connected sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks, and intersection lighting along SR 135 from south of the US 101/135 separation all the way to Den Street.
This project will:
✅ Connect residential neighborhoods to downtown Los Alamos
✅ Create safe routes to Olga Reed Elementary School
✅ Increase freedom for people of all ages, abilities, and incomes
✅ Make walking and biking real options, offering people relief from high costs of driving
Right now, gaps in sidewalks, poor sight lines, and missing crosswalks make it unsafe for kids, seniors, and neighbors to get where they need to go without a car. This project can change that, but you need to make your voice heard.
