Hello valley cyclists-Please join us! The SYVCC is partnering with Sage Trail Alliance on a special trail work day on Figueroa Mountain. Our exact trail is still being selected, but will likely be either White Rock, Munch Canyon, or Davy Brown trails. When: Saturday, December 2nd. 8:30 am – 1 pm Where: The exact trail is still TBD, but plan to meet at Figueroa Mountain Campground 9007 Figueroa Mountain Rd, Santa Ynez, CA 93460 What: After meeting at 8:30 am, we’ll carpool to the top selected trail and ride/hike down the trail to the sections that need work. What to bring: Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. Plan to bring all your own water and snacks. Bring gloves and a bike helmet to work in. Sage will provide tools and post work drinks, and the SYVCC will have sandwiches. Bring your MTB if you’d like to ride down the trail to work points or want to ride on some Fig trails or McKinley once we finish. Meet at the Flat Pole in Los Olivos at 9:30a Thanksgiving morning. Ride to either the base of Fig and Back, or to the Ranger Station. Hope to see you there! It’s an important few weeks for any SYV Cycling Club members or aspiring members. It’s time to order new cycling kits! A custom webstore has been set up with our kit supplier, and our new kit design is ready to order (11/13 through 11/19). Just like last few years, the kits are made by Giordana Cycling, and there will be some fit kit samples from Giordana at Dr J’s, so stop in and try on the samples if needed. These kits are for our members only, so please see below for instructions on joining the club or renewing your membership for 2024 so you can order the new kits. And even if you don’t want new clothing this year, please rejoin the cycling club. Here are a few highlights of the club’s recent activities below. 2023 SYVCC Highlights: -Donated 13 bikes to local students as part of the Open Streets event -Hosted kids races and a bike parade at Open Streets -Continued a series of club Time Trials throughout the summer -Performed several trash cleanup days on our club adopted stretch of SB County road (Armour Ranch) -Sponsored the SYV composite MTB team -Continued an affiliate membership for all members with the SAGE Trail Alliance, with a mission to improve trail conditions and access in Santa Barbara County -Continued our lobbying efforts with the County of Santa Barbara to improve our poor road conditions -Worked with SBCAG on the continued efforts to develop the Santa Ynez Valley River Trail -Sponsored the Firestone Walker Race Team -Hosted a summer BBQ Your club membership supports all our efforts, so please join the club again for 2024! |
