Hello SYVCC Echelon Bike club of Santa Barbara has invited the SYVCC to join them Sunday 9a for a Fig Mountain ride. See details from Steve, their club rides coordinator Figueroa Mountain! Apparently the rains haven’t done much if any damage to this wonderful and challenging classic; let’s get up there and enjoy what might be left of this years wildflower bloom. Start/Finish: Santa Ynez High School. Roll at 9:00 am. Lunch at El Rancho Market (the motivation for all this exertion). This time we will do the route clockwise so as to have a better time with the flower seekers up on the mountain. It’s only about 42 miles and 5100 feet of elevation but it always seems longer – bring plenty of water and snacks as required. As we make our ascent the group will naturally split into groups – there will be regroup points. It is a backcountry route, on County or National Forest roads, it is rugged, with the possibility of a couple of minor water crossings. The forecast looks great: cool in the morning warming up nicely with a possible high of 80º! Please carpool if you can. Here’s the route – indicates anti-clockwise: Figueroa Mountain |
