Hello SYVCC
The clubs signature cycling event The Tour De SYV is just around the corner. The SYVCC + the 805 race team are the largest cycling club in Santa Barbara County. We would love to get 45 riders of all abilities to join the event this July. The Tour De SYV participation has grown each year, and has been something the club is really proud of putting together. The event is set up to have the teams be balanced and all riders contribution helps your team have a chance to win. The team times the last 2 years have been very close, our analytics dept is working diligently to have fair and balanced teams made up of a wide range of riders. The main objective of the event is to be a fun, safe and a supportive activity that all club members are part of. Please consider being on one of the teams!
Dates: 7/1-7/31. It will start on a Monday and end of a Wednesday to give all riders as many opportunities to ride the segments as they want.
Club BBQ We will also have an all club BBQ on Saturday Aug 3rd from 1p-5p at Hans Christian Andersen Park to hand out prizes and see friends. All food and beverages will be provided by the club. Meet and Vegetarian options will be offered.
The board is working diligently to finalize the 5 segments for the Tour De SYV. We will send them out the week of June 24th with the teams.

The Prizes:
- Top 3 teams – $25 / $15 / $5 at Dr Js per team member
- Fastest Prologue Team – $10 at Dr Js per team member
- Fastest Climbing Team – $10 at Dr Js per team member
- Fastest Climber (M and F) – $20 at Dr Js
- Fastest Overall (M and F) – $25 at Dr Js
The Rules:
- Complete all 5 segments at least once, in any order, any time in July (they have to be on Strava)
- 2 Individual Segments and 3 group segments you can ride with others
- The “no drafting” rule still applies for the Prologue and other individual segments. These are true TTs.
- Each rider’s time will be totaled for all 5 stages (using their fastest time for each Strava segment during the month of July). The winning team will have the lowest combined time for all team members
- If a rider doesn’t complete a segment, they will be assigned a TBD time penalty which will be factored into the total team time (as an example, the time penalty for skipping the Prologue might be 15 minutes)
- Be safe, have fun, and cheer on your fellow riders!
- Must use Strava for your time to count
