Hello SYVCC

Happy New Year
See 3 great opportunities to volunteer in the next few weeks.

Sunday, January 5th

SAGE Rancho Alegre Trail work
They’ve built two new trails at Rancho Alegre and they are asking for community help in compacting the new trails this Sunday morning. They can sign off on Volunteer hours if you or your child needs to get any in.

We will meet at 9 at the Larsen meadow campground (first left over the bridge on the road up to tequepis trailhead). I’ll have tools and supplies for everyone, feel free to bring bikes for afterwards.
feel free to text Max me with any other questions. 805-245-4604

Sunday, January 12th

Cachuma Lake
Trail Work Day

7:30am to 12/Noon Work 12:30 to Whenever we’ll Ride what we worked & more!

Gate Fees are waived for Volunteers. Just inform the Ranger at the gate that you’re there volunteering for the trail work day.

There will be coffee and pastries for the first 50 volunteers.

7:30-7:55 Meetup at the retired SBCO Fire Camp. Please don’t park near the boats and be courteous to our fellow park going fishermen, rowers & disc golfers, thank you. We will line the road to parking with SoCal League Course Tape.

Please RSVP on the Event Facebook page or by texting (805) 868-6465

Everyone needs to bring:

  1. Your signed waiver
  2. Gloves
  3. Long sleeve shirt
  4. Long pants
  5. Sturdy shoes or boots
  6. Personal water and drinks. No alcohol please.
  7. Your lunch and snacks
  8. Your bike riding stuff
  9. Your Bike Helmet
  10. Your best can do attitude!

There will be a limited amount of tools provided by SBCO Parks. Please bring the following tools for yourself to use in case tools run low. Tools like: Flexrakes, hard rakes, flat shovels, loppers, hand saws and hand trimmers. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY SORT OF POWER TOOLS, gas or electric, thank you. Only SBCO Park Rangers will be using power tools. Mark your personal tools somehow.

When you arrive:
Turn in your signed waiver at the SYV MTB Tent. There will be waivers there too that can be filled out onsite.
Get your tool(s).
Hang out as we divide into work groups. (We need some experienced trail workers to act as crew leaders)
Please wear your helmet while working.
Be prepared to hike to our work areas in the Mohawk Trail Aera. Please do not ride your bike with a tool in hand. We may be able to have tools driven out to the trails. If that happens we will allow riding to those locations.

All volunteers need to sign the SBCO Volunteer Waiver and turn it in before working starts. Minors need to be accompanied by an adult and have their waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

Your support at this SYV MTB Community Cachuma Lake Trail Work Day is much appreciated. Our focus will be the trails that will be used to host the SoCal Youth Cycling League later in March. If enough volunteers attend we will have a group brush the Sweetwater Trail as well.

12/Noon we’ll all regroup and ride what we worked and go ride Trek Trails on the other side of 154. In order to ride Trek Trails you’ll need to sign their online waiver here trailsatra.com, please pick ride date of 1/12..

Thank you to SBCO Parks and the Cachuma Lake Rangers, the SoCal League and its volunteers and all of you who can find the time to help us out on Sunday, January 12th!

Remember, many hands make light work!
