SYVCC Group Ride to Miguelito Canyon: Saturday 10/10. We will leave the Park in Solvang at the Normal time 9:15. If anyone wants to start from Lompoc they can leave from Home Depot a little later, or there is a park near there that our Lompoc Chapter of the Club is getting me details on to meet at. The group leaving from Lompoc can meet up with the group coming from Solvang to do the climb. The group leaving from Solvang will head out Santa Rosa, do Miguelito, and ride back 246.

Darrens 3rAnnual Solvang Bike and BBQ Ride- Sept 20

If you have two wheels , the scenic Solvang/Santa Ynez Valley will be the setting for the 3rd Annual Solvang Bike and BBQ ride, Sept. 20th.  Located in the rural Santa Ynez Valley, enjoy pedaling through pastures and past wineries.   Each year the Solvang Ride offers different routes; there will be a 30’ish mile ride around the Valley and a longer option for those that think the 30’ish miles is too easy and a much shorter route for those that think the 30’ish miles is crazy long.

We gather in Solvang’s Hans Christian Andersen Park at 8:45, This ride rolls at 9:14 AM, please arrive in time to join quick daily meeting/safety briefing/answer any questions, etc.

The BBQ is always a highlight of the day,  Steamed corn on the cob and your choice of veggie and carnivore options with toppings grown locally.

All this fun for the super affordable price of $10 per person.  It has been a long time since a dollar has stretched so far.  Get your bike out and feel like a kid again!

Short ride with some climbing, 17.84 miles, Hans Christian Anderson Park to Alisal road, to Hwy 101 and back.  Option to ride over to Refugio Road for a few extra miles.
Flattish route for beginners- 25 miles Alamo Pintado to base of Fig. cattleguards and back by Ballard Canyon.

Medium ride- (tentative-unless I can think of something better) The 246 to Happy Canyon to Los Olivos, optional Foxen and Zaca return on non-Foxen climb route, optional loops (Neverland and back), to base of Fig (Happy Canyon side)

Very tough – Fig. Mtn-No SAG wagon, bring plenty of water, for very experienced riders in great shape.  Ascend on Happy Canyon side, return via Ballard.  Build up an appetite big enough for the huge plate of BBQ.

Nov 1st. Meet at the Flag Pole in Los Olivos 9a, BBQ to Follow in the park

Several different routes to choose from on their web site. They have given the SYVCC a discount code. Please use the code: SYVCC when you register for 2025 Ride Santa Barbara 100. The code will be good for 15% off of the registration price. Hope to get a big group out this year. Our title Sponsor Firestone Walker will be serving beers, and I know they would love to see lots of the SYVCC kits finish the ride.
